4/4/12 Coming Soon Krav Maga Orange County Hosts Jon Pascal in a Personal Defense Against Car Jacking Seminar
Summary: Krav Maga Orange County is excited to have 4th degree black belt Jon Pascal for a carjacking defense seminar
Irvine, CA – On June 2nd, Krav Maga Orange County will host Jon Pascal as he instructs our students in personal protection and defense against car jacking from 2p to 5p.
KMOC and Pascal’s seminar will focus on defense against attackers intent on harming drivers whose vehicles have stopped, providing students with practical and effective defensive tactics. Emphasis will be on what to do increase situational awareness to avoid becoming a victim, but when an attack becomes unavoidably, it will prepare students for defending themselves and their family once a carjacker has initiated an assault.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, “Most local and state criminal codes don't define ‘carjacking.’ It's reported as either auto theft or armed robbery. This means that no solid statistics exist on time, place, and victims.” The LAPD also states carjackings are crimes of opportunity occurring regardless of who the driver is, they occur typically at night, and most often involve a gun or other weapon. Carjackings are crimes of opportunity and occur where the opportunity is right, at stop lights, stop signs, or in parking garages. When the opportunity is not right, carjackers also may employ a “bump and rob,” capitalizing on a conscientious drivers inclination to stop after an accident. The seminar will focus on avoiding becoming a victim through prevention and self protection.
KMOC and Darren Levine recently held another successful seminar on defense against home invaders, providing students with practical and effective defensive tactics. Emphasis was on what to do once a home invasion has occurred and will prepare students for defending themselves and their family once intruders are in the home. The seminar also included Levine’s special insights on home invasions as the former District Attorney for the County of Los Angeles starting in 1990.

3/20/12 Krav Maga Orange County Gives Specialized Self-Defense Seminar To Seniors
Irvine, CA – In a special session, Krav Maga Orange County (KMOC) provided self-defense training for the senior community, ages 65 and above, in Orange County members. What was unique about this course was its specific target of customizing self-defense for seniors and for disable persons. The class was a tremendous success amongst the participants. The group’s organizers, Bubbles and Hal, who arranged the class time with KMOC, said, “The session was informative and instructive, we are still yelling STOP and EYES, EYES, EYES, what a group. We saw the six others who were unable to attend and they were so sorry they had missed it!”
Since special physical needs were present, Yuri Boiarsky of Krav Maga Orange County had to customize the training. The challenge was to incorporate elements of the Fear Adrenaline Stress Training to a more specific level of physical ability. KMOC met the challenge and tailored self-defense techniques to the very active participants as well as those with limitations and possibly little or no use of one or more limbs. KMOC successfully taught the participants to recognize the warning signs of an attack, avoid threatening situations before they become dangerous, avoid physical confrontation by not looking like a victim, use verbal skills to diffuse situations before they become violent, and how to use simple techniques to protect themselves if conflict becomes unavoidable. Most unique and exciting was those techniques were designed to be successful whether the defender was standing or in a wheel chair.
3/7/12 Youth Group at Shir Ha-Ma’alot Temple Receive Training from Krav Maga Orange County
Irvine, CA – Continuing its commitment to serving the community, Krav Maga of Orange County (KMOC) trained the youth group at Shir Ha-Ma’alot in Level 1 self-defense and an introduction to Fear Adrenaline Stress Training, or F.A.S.T. Approximately 30 9th-12th grade students participated and said that it was the best introduction to self-defense they’ve had.
As part of their every other week Saturday night event, the Youth program invited KMOC to give an introductory course to the students at Shir Ha-Ma’alot Temple in Irvine. The Jewish temple was founded in 1968 and met in homes of members and shared facilities until moving to their current facility, a renovated athletic club, in 1994. The congregation adopted its name in memory of the massacre of teenagers in Ma’alot, Israel.
Continuing the tradition of dedication to Shir Ha-Ma’alot’s teens, the temple called upon KMOC staff to teach an introduction to Krav Maga. The class was a surprise for students who said the class was, “really, really fun” and that instructor Yuri Boiarsky “seemed really experienced, he was fun and really knew what he was doing.”
Student’s learned basic fight stance and simple punches, kicks, and other strikes. Also, KMOC incorporated elements of the F.A.S.T. which teaches students to recognize the warning signs of an attack, avoid threatening situations before they become dangerous, avoid physical confrontation by not looking like a victim, use verbal skills to diffuse situations before they become violent, and it trains individuals to protect themselves in hours, not years, if conflict becomes unavoidable. KMOC instructors took the same principals of the FAST program and tailored them to the needs of teenagers and emphasized how they should recognize and respond when unknown adults are acting in an unsafe or threatening manner.

12/14/11 Kid’s Self Defense Seminar to be held in Mission Viejo on 12/17 starting at 11:30am
MISSION VIEJO, CA– In May of 2011, Orange County experienced a rash of attempted kidnappings, at least five in the first week of May alone. KMOC’s new program began offering enrollment in September and now KMOC is registering students for this year’s last Fear, Adrenaline, and Stress Training (FAST) Kids Seminar.
Krav Maga is a reality based self-defense system that emphasizes natural movements. KMOC’s FAST program teaches students to recognize the warning signs of an attack, avoid threatening situations before they become dangerous, avoid physical confrontation by not looking like a victim, use verbal skills to diffuse situations before they become violent, and it trains individuals to protect themselves in hours, not years, if conflict becomes unavoidable. 12/14/11 Free Krav Maga Women’s Self Defense Seminar Trains OC Residents
IRVINE, CA – On November 20th, Krav Maga OC (KMOC )held this year’s Women’s Self-Defense Seminar free of charge in response to the October 12th sexual assault on a Fullerton College student, the second attack this year. The seminar was offered free to female students of Fullerton College and to all women of Orange County as an opportunity to learn verbal defense, situational awareness, basic self-defense techniques such as kicks and punches, and how to defend against various attacks. More than 30 high school and college students, working professionals, stay-at-home moms and retirees attended the event.
Fullerton College student, Jessica Baxter, was key in organizing the event. “After the second attack at our school I decided it was time to talk to Yuri at Krav Maga OC and set up another Women's Seminar. I knew even if only one person showed up, that's one person who now has the power and confidence to save her own life.” Jessica has been a KMOC student for 12 months, and due to Krav Maga’s emphasis on natural movements and reality based training, she is confident Krav Maga OC has prepared her to both avoid dangerous situations and defend herself if needed. “In my line of work, I am often one of the last to go home at night. It doesn't bother me because I know I can protect myself, but I worry about all of the girls I know that end up walking to their cars alone,” she said. “I was amazed when I got to the seminar and so many people showed up. It was great to see them learning these skills, by the end everyone felt happy and were confident that, if they ever needed to, they could defend themselves.”
Krav Maga OC donated all proceeds from last year’s Women’s Self Defense Seminar to the Susan G. Komen “3-Day” walk and this year donated time and instruction to the students of Fullerton College and the women of Orange County.
