31. January 2012 08:21

ORANGE COUNTY, CA - Krav Maga of Orange County (KMOC) was recently recognized for services to the community by the California State Assembly. KMOC has been providing exemplary self-defense training in Orange County for 20 years. KMOC has taught thousands of students throughout Orange County to train tough, train smart, and train for long-term success. They continue to provide the highest level of training to students, providing the most current techniques applied in real-world scenarios as the longest running Krav Maga studio in Southern California.

Offering the highest quality training to both civilians and law enforcement, KMOC has been helping students meet fitness, self-defense and mental focus goals, as the only official Krav Maga Worldwide (KMW) certified training provider in Orange County. There is training and classes for all levels at Krav Maga of Orange County, Matthew H. of Aliso Viejo, CA says, "I started training at Krav Maga OC just over a year ago. The classes are great and the instructors do a fantastic job of explaining techniques and then providing one on one attention to students. The classes are all a great workout and I leave feeling like I gained useful skills from each class.”

In addition to the highest quality self-defense, Krav Maga Orange County has also dedicated itself to helping the Community in other ways. Most recently KMOC Donated proceeds from its Home Invasion Self Defense Seminar to the Stop Cancer Foundation in memory of Krav Maga Worldwide Chief Instructor Darren Levine’s mother, Shirley Levine. KMOC has also donated proceeds from Youth Synagogue events to the Make a Wish Foundation, proceeds from FAST seminars to the Japan Tsunami Relief Fund, and offered free classes to female students of Fullerton College and the women of Orange County in response to two sexual assaults on campus.

Krav Maga Orange County Celebrates 20th Anniversary

26. January 2012 08:10

Krav Maga of Orange County (KMOC) is celebrating its 20th anniversary of providing the highest quality Krav Maga instruction in Orange County! KMOC has been helping students meet fitness, self defense and mental focus goals, as the only official Krav Maga Worldwide (KMW) certified training provider in Orange County. KMOC has taught thousands of students throughout Orange County to train tough, train smart, and train for long-term success. They continue to provide the highest level of training to students, providing the most current techniques applied in real-world scenarios.

Chris B. of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA says, “Krav Maga is a terrific workout, but it's also an effective and brutal martial art. If you are looking to take your workout to new levels, and if you want to see how much you can really accomplish, KMOC is the place to go."

Over 20 years ago Darren Levine, Chief Instructor of Krav Maga Worldwide, asked his senior students/instructors Mitch Markowitz and Mike Leifer to start a program in Orange County. They followed that direction and established Krav Maga of Orange County (KMOC). Since that time, the KMOC team has established two facilities, one in Mission Viejo and another in Irvine, to conveniently provide you with the highest quality Krav Maga training.

The KMOC instructor staff has over 130 years of combined teaching experience in Krav Maga and the program is the only one in Orange County with six Black Belt Level Instructors.

In order to help students start 2012 right, Krav Maga Orange County is offering special packages to new students who sign up this year. Students who become members have full access to KMOC classes as well as a discounted rate for special seminars like Chief Instructor of KMW Darren Levine’s Home Invasion Defense Seminar and the Fear Adrenaline Stress Training, or F.A.S.T, seminars offered throughout the year.

Krav Maga Worldwide Chief Instructor Darren Levine Holding Home Invasion Defense Seminar at Krav Maga Orange County’s Irvine Location

7. January 2012 08:07

IRVINE, CA - Krav Maga of Orange County (KMOC) will be hosting a Home Invasion Defense Seminar led by Krav Maga Worldwide Chief Instructor Darren Levine. The seminar will be held on February 4th from 2:00-5:00 pm at KMOC’s Irvine location.

According to statistics compiled from the FBI and US Department of Justice, one out of five homes will experience a break-in or home invasion. This results in over 8,000 home invasions everyday on average in North America. KMOC and Darren Levine’s seminar will focus on defense against home invaders, providing students with practical and effective defensive tactics. Emphasis will be on what to do once a home invasion has occurred and will prepare students for defending themselves and their family once intruders are in the home.

Seminar instructor and 6th-degree black belt Darren Levine has dedicated his life to the safety of others serving as Krav Maga Chief Instructor and also as the Los Angeles Deputy District Attorney. He founded the nonprofit Krav Maga Association of America, Inc. at the personal request of Krav Maga Grandmaster Imi Lichtenfeld. Mr. Levine serves as the Chairman of the Board and U.S. Chief Instructor of Krav Maga Worldwide. He was certified as a Krav Maga instructor in 1981 by the Israeli Ministry of Education and the Wingate Institute of Physical Education and Sport in Netanya, Israel. Mr. Levine has taught Krav Maga to thousands civilians and local, state, and federal law enforcement officers, as well as to military special operation and counter-terror units on an official basis, throughout the United States and abroad.

Darren Levine served as a Deputy District Attorney for the County of Los Angeles starting in 1990. As a prosecutor, he was a senior member of the Crimes Against Peace Officers Section (CAPOS), an elite special trials unit tasked with the responsibility of prosecuting the most violent crimes committed against peace officers. In that position for nearly 13 years, he has prosecuted eight cases involving the murders of on duty peace officers and was entrusted with prosecuting some of the most challenging, complex, and high profile cases in the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. Currently, he serves as a supervisor in the District Attorney's Office. He has been recognized by receiving many awards, including the Los Angeles Deputy District Attorney of the Year (2003), the National Association of District Attorneys (co-recipient) of the 2004 Heavy Hitter Award, and was named a Distinguished Alumni of Loyola Law School in 2005. Darren continues to extensively teach Krav Maga throughout the world.

Kid’s Self Defense Seminar to be held in Mission Viejo on 12/17 starting at 11:30am

14. December 2011 08:04

MISSION VIEJO, CA– In May of 2011, Orange County experienced a rash of attempted kidnappings, at least five in the first week of May alone. In response, the instructors of Krav Maga Orange County became certified over this past summer in order to train children in personal safety and self-defense. KMOC’s new program began offering enrollment in September and now KMOC is registering students for this year’s last Fear, Adrenaline, and Stress Training (FAST) Kids Seminar.

Krav Maga is a reality based self-defense system that emphasizes natural movements. KMOC’s FAST program teaches students to recognize the warning signs of an attack, avoid threatening situations before they become dangerous, avoid physical confrontation by not looking like a victim, use verbal skills to diffuse situations before they become violent, and it trains individuals to protect themselves in hours, not years, if conflict becomes unavoidable. FAST Kids takes the same principals of the FAST program and tailors them to the needs of children aged 6-12 and emphasizes how children should recognize and respond when unknown adults are acting in an unsafe or threatening manner.

Free Krav Maga Women’s Self Defense Seminar Trains OC Residents

14. December 2011 08:00

IRVINE, CA – On November 20th, Krav Maga OC (KMOC )held this year’s Women’s Self-Defense Seminar free of charge in response to the October 12th sexual assault on a Fullerton College student, the second attack this year. The seminar was offered free to female students of Fullerton College and to all women of Orange County as an opportunity to learn verbal defense, situational awareness, basic self-defense techniques such as kicks and punches, and how to defend against various attacks. More than 30 high school and college students, working professionals, stay-at-home moms and retirees attended the event.

Fullerton College student, Jessica Baxter, was key in organizing the event. “After the second attack at our school I decided it was time to talk to Yuri at Krav Maga OC and set up another Women's Seminar. I knew even if only one person showed up, that's one person who now has the power and confidence to save her own life.” Jessica has been a KMOC student for 12 months, and due to Krav Maga’s emphasis on natural movements and reality based training, she is confident Krav Maga OC has prepared her to both avoid dangerous situations and defend herself if needed. “In my line of work, I am often one of the last to go home at night. It doesn't bother me because I know I can protect myself, but I worry about all of the girls I know that end up walking to their cars alone,” she said.  “I was amazed when I got to the seminar and so many people showed up. It was great to see them learning these skills, by the end everyone felt happy and were confident that, if they ever needed to, they could defend themselves.”

Krav Maga OC donated all proceeds from last year’s Women’s Self Defense Seminar to the Susan G. Komen “3-Day” walk and this year donated time and instruction to the students of Fullerton College and the women of Orange County.

Testimonials

23. October 2011 05:52

I have been taking Krav Maga for about one year. It has given me a lot of self confidence, in part, because I am shorter in stature and a heck of a lot older than any of the people in my Krav Maga classes. One never expects to use Krav Maga, but I travel upwards of 200,000 air miles each year for business and there is always a risk to one's self in some of the cities I go to. I always try to take precautions and be aware of my surroundings. Recently I was at the airport in Rome, Italy. I got into a situation over an unfair taxi fare that quickly went bad. It was very early in the morning and there were almost no people on the sidewalk in front of the terminal and no police. The taxi driver threw a punch at me with his right fist. Without thinking (pure reflex due to Krav Maga training), I blocked the punch with my left and hit him hard in the face with a right hook. I "escaped" into the terminal and the attacker got in his car and left. I was not looking for a fight but was ready to respond. I can only surmise the outcome would not have been good for me if I wasn't a student of Krav Maga of Orange County"
